Rum Cake

This is a scrumptious cake recipe, and is good for company. The cake is dense and moist, with a delicious rum flavor.
   
Ingredients  
Cake:
 
l cup chopped pecans
1 18-1/2 ounce yellow cake mix
l  3-3/4 ounce instant vanilla pudding mix
4 eggs
1/2 cup cold water
1/2 cup corn oil
1/2 cup dark rum
 

Glaze:

 
1/4 pound butter
1/4 cup water
l cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup dark rum

Use this pastry brush to evenly
brush glaze over top and sides of cake.

Directions  
  1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees.  Grease and flour a 10 inch tube or 12 cup bundt pan. Sprinkle pecans over bottom of pan. 
  2. Mix all cake ingredients together.  Pour batter over nuts.
  3. Bake l hour.  Cool.  Invert on serving plate.  Prick top with tongs of a fork.
  4. Prepare glaze.  Melt buter in saucepan.  Stir in water and sugar.  Boil 5 minutes, stirring constantly.  Remove from heat.  Stir in rum.
  5. Spoon and brush glaze evenly over top and sides of cake.  Allow cake to absorb glaze.  Repeat until glaze is completely used up.  Enjoy!
